News From the Participants of the Recent Laughter for Life Workshop
U3A West Rand are now proud to have four trained Laughter Leaders after having taken part in the Laughter for Life workshop held recently.
The two day course was presented at Ruimsig Retirement Village on 23-24 November 2017 by John-Peter Gernaat, Master Trainer.
The aims of the participants varied. One wanted to learn how to release the inner child through laughter, another how to bring a new happy and relaxing atmosphere to her environment, yet another wanted to take the course to be able to help out at a local centre for the disabled and the fourth participant wanted to spread a little happiness at various centres for the aged.
The training involved some background history and a lot of practical work. We, as trainees, enjoyed every minute of the course and we hope that we can share our experience with more people. Bringing laughter back into society has a lot of benefits.
Just two of the benefits of laughing is the feeling of total stress release, and a feeling of well being brought about by the increased oxygen flow in the body
We hope to start a U3A West Rand Laughter Club next year.
At the end of the course certificates were awarded to Marthie Coetzer, Janet van der Mewe, Christine Doel and Griet Wessels.
Congratulations to all and thank you for your enthusiastic participation, and a BIG THANK YOU to John-Peter Gernaat who held the training and supplied the training manual and certificates
